The Power of Video Blogging

If you have yet to consider adding videos to your blog, I highly recommend doing so! Videos help put a “face” to your business and assist in branding you as an expert. They are a great way to get your health and wellness message out there while providing viewers with a personal touch.

I typically use videos to explain a particular health issue and then give quick tips on solutions. Make sure, however, that your videos are no longer than 2 minutes, maximum 3 minutes. Always keep in mind that the web audience moves quickly and people’s attention gets diverted quite easily, so the faster you can relay your message, the better.

Here are some tips to get you started:

  1. Build rapport right away:
Introduce yourself and use an interesting tag line. Example: “Hi, I’m Dr. Smith of XXX practice, and it’s our job to help you get and stay healthy by XXXX. In today’s video, I’ll be talking about XXXX.”
  2. Create anticipation:
Do this by asking questions. For example: “Do you feel XXXX?” “When was the last time you felt XXX?” Make your audience feel like you are talking to each person individually just like they were in the office with you. In fact, you could also mention this, e.g. “If you were in my office right now, here’s what I’d do to help you answer this question…”
  3. Content should be concise:
Make sure to keep the content short, concise, and to-the-point. Explain three or four tips at most. Also use a catchy headline. And don’t forget, a sense of humour is always welcome!
  4. Summarize/wrap:
Quickly summarize the points you’ve talked about so viewers get the whole picture, and give one bonus point or solution. This is a great way to give valuable advice for free while engaging people.
  5. Never miss the call-to-action:
Always, always, always give a call-to-action, whether you want people to leave a comment on the blog, sign up for your free report on the topic(s) you just covered, or email for more information, etc. And remind them that you have other valuable free resources on your website (you do, don’t you?).
  6. Create your own Youtube channel:
Doing this is free, helps establish you as an expert, and gives you even more market reach. Every time you create a video for your blog, make sure you upload it to your Youtube account. As with other social media platforms, you can create a customized background with your brand look. Your account’s home page will show the latest featured video, links to others, your bio, stats, and more. Plus, the more videos you have, and the more they are viewed, the more you move up in Google rankings. Youtube is visited by millions of people every day, so this is a perfect place to get your message out to the masses.

Try these easy video steps, add a new dimension to your blog, and see what happens!
